The Musical

I often wonder what it would be like if our lives were like the classic musicals. Every emotion conveyed by song and dance, strangers become dance partners, and confrontation would be settled with a mock-fight dance-off.
The greatest musical, or dare I say, movie of all time would have to be Singin' in the Rain. If you haven't seen it go out and buy it tonight. By far, the best movie that is the essence of the perfect musical (I dare anyone to say otherwise). Anyway, I know that many people are put off by the old time musicals- thinking that they are too cheesy and totally unbelievable. But isn't that the beauty of them? They are so full of innocence, plain old fun with witty banter and gorgeous-straight-dancing and singing men (most of the time).
A little random thought: If the different religions were categorized as movies, the LDS faith (us Mormon folk) would definitely be the classic musical. Especially growing up in the church, we had so much innocent fun, goofing off, dating, getting twitter-pated, dancing, and (surprisingly) a lot of singing! Coincidentally, just like a MUSICAL!
I firmly believe that if people watched more classic movies, including musicals, there would be more of a sense of self worth, compassion, goofiness, innocence, intelligence, and singing. How great would that be? Well, I hope I have inspired you to rent at least one musical. If you don't have access to Singin' in the Rain, here are a few of my recommendations:

Anchors Aweigh
On the Town
An American in Paris
High Society
Hit the Deck
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Tammy and the Bachelor ( I love this one)
Meet Me in St. Louis

Well, that's all I can think of at this moment.  Here is a clip from Singin' in the Rain, it's one of my favorite parts in the movie. Here's a little trivia fact: Debbie Reynolds (the starring lady in this movie) is Carrie Fisher's (Princess Leia) mom in real life.  Anyway, here's the clip: (be sure to click on "moses supposes" and "all i do is dream of you" clips too, their great)

p.s. I used to have a little girlie crush on donald o'connor (the one singing). Was I destined to marry a goober or what? (Love you Kurty!)

p.s.s.  I've switched this clip a dozen times trying to figure out which one would be best from Singin' in the Rain to show you- it's that good. so go rent it...

Yes! Musicals are awesome! That's one thing I miss about high school is learning the music. And that's my favorite scene in "Singing in the Rain"! Donald O'Connor is amazing and isn't Gene Kelly so dreamy? :) Maybe we could get Kurt and Ryan to be them for Halloween. ;)

Cute picture of your "forever family"! :)
