The Top Dog

Inspired by my sister in law, I have begun a quest to see all the AFIs and Oscar winner movies. I was going to do the lists individually, but I guess I've seen too many (That's what happens when AMC and TCM are the only two channels allowed in your house growing up...). So I am compiling all the lists and making a grand list of what I haven't seen. If you have seen any of these please let me know which ones I should start out with.

AFI's Top 100:
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 1948
Annie Hall 1977
The Best Years of Our Lives 1946
Double Indemnity 1944
A Clockwork Orange 1971
The Third Man 1949
Network 1976
Shane 1953
City Lights 1931
The Deer Hunter 1978
The Wild Bunch 1969
Giant 1956
The Searchers 1956
Unforgiven 1992

Oscar's Best Picture:
No Country For Old Men 2007
(ugg.. really bad.. i didn't like it AT ALL)
American Beauty 1999
Unforgiven 1992
Ordinary People 1980
The Deer Hunter 1978
Annie Hall 1977
A Man for All Seasons 1966
Tom Jones 1963
Marty 1955
Gentleman's Agreement 1947
The Best Years of Our Lives 1946
The Lost Weekend 1945
The Life of Émile Zola 1937
Cavalcade 1933

AFI's Top 100 Laughs:
Annie Hall 1977
The General 1927
A Fish Called Wanda 1988
Being There 1979
This Is Spinal Tap 1984
City Lights 1931
Manhattan 1979
Shampoo 1975
To Be or Not to Be 1942
Cat Ballou 1965
Arthur 1981
The Miracle of Morgan's Creek 1944
Diner 1982
It's a Gift 1934
Broadcast News 1987
Bananas 1971
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town 1936
Victor/Victoria 1982
Sleeper 1973
Private Benjamin 1980
Lost in America 1985
Dinner at Eight 1933
The Heartbreak Kid 1972
Silver Streak 1976

I think this is a good start. According to these lists, I guess I have to see Annie Hall first and foremost. It is on the top all these lists. Once I have sufficiently conquered these movies I will move on to the rest of the AFI lists.

I can't believe you've seen so many of them!!! The only one I've seen that you haven't is American Beauty...it's a little twisted. Probably not one I should have seen!
